Background

The Spectrolaser development was initiated as a direct response to industry need for better technologies for materials characterisation. The technology has potential widespread application in industries that rely on maintaining a uniform quality of process feed materials to ensure the integrity of a finished product and trouble-free operation of the manufacturing plant. Examples of such industries include the wider minerals industry, cement and other building materials manufacture, and metal and alloy processing. In addition, the fundamental principles used in the technology could be adapted to such diverse applications as the sorting of recycled glass, the monitoring of lead in paint, and as an educational tool in Universities.

There are many potential benefits to both analytical service providers and industry in adopting the Spectrolaser technology. Firstly, rapid laboratory analysis assists in point testing of the processes at various critical stages and aids the chemical analysis of both process feedstock and waste. There is further benefit in replacing existing time-consuming laboratory methods and to reduce the use and storage of laboratory chemicals thereby palliating worker and environmental concerns. This demand for a better analysis technology has led to the development of the Spectrolaser technology
